Athena Saklas, owner of Blo Fifth Street in Austin, Texas, opened the location in April 2011. With a Master’s in Advanced Literacy and a background in teaching, Athena transitioned into entrepreneurship, inspired by her mother’s success as a serial entrepreneur. At the time, Blo was the first of its kind in Texas, and Athena saw a unique opportunity to bring catwalk-quality hair services to everyday life. Outside of business, Athena enjoys traveling and spending time with her teenage daughter, embracing the spontaneity that comes with living in the moment. Blo Fifth Street is conveniently located between Campbell Street and West Lynn, in the same center as Mean Eyed Cat, on West 5th Street.
