Hollywood’s golden stars took to the red carpet this past Sunday at the 94th Annual Academy Awards, to show us the best hair and makeup looks that money can buy. While every A-List celebrity who strutted down the red carpet looked fabulous – some shined more than others. Without further ado, we have rounded up our top five looks from the night.
ZENDAYA: Wispy Updo
Is there anything Zendaya can’t do? I mean seriously, she can sing, dance, act, is effortlessly beautiful, and always has the trendiest red carpet looks. The Dune star looked like an absolute daydream with her hair in a soft and wispy updo, accenting the sleekness of her silk button-down. Her stylist, Antionette Hill told insiders that “for Zendaya’s Oscar’s look, we decided to go with this soft up sweep because we felt it’s very glamorous and Hollywood-esque. It also accentuates Zendaya’s beautiful features.”
BILLIE EILISH: Side Swept Bangs and Hair Flip
Whether her hair is electric blue, neon green, or ice blonde- Billie can rock any color on the red carpet. Last night the young pop sensation came with jet black hair- and we loved it. The contrast of her dark hair against her neutral makeup was giving us serious Snow White energy- marking her as one of the fairest of them all. Billie didn’t just sweep the night with her haunting performance of No Time To Die (and first Oscar win) but she swept her bangs to the side with flipped ends- serving us old Hollywood glamour with her 60s inspired do’.
JESSICA CHASTAIN: Romantic Updo
Not only did Jessica Chastain inspire us with her words during her much-deserved Best Actress acceptance speech, but she reminded us that a sleek ponytail NEVER disappoints. While people commonly think of the ponytail as an easy way to get your hair out of the way during a workout- Jessica put those thoughts to bed. The first time Oscar winner looked elegant and chic, accentuating her beautiful eyes and perfectly shaped eyebrows.
LUPITA NYONG’O: Sculpted Braids
When it comes to red carpets, Lupita Nyong’o never misses. Seriously, try and name one time she didn’t absolutely kill it on the carpet. Not only did this intricately beautiful updo embrace the natural texture of Lupita’s hair but celebrity hairstylist, Vernon Francis, revealed that this updo was a nod to African figures in classical Greek art. He explained that he had created this look to match “the floral design in Lupita’s dress while elongating the neckline.”
KRISTEN STEWART: Punk Rock Glam
While Kristen portrayed a real-life princess in her Oscar nominated role, she showed us that she can quickly turn from regal to rockstar- and look jaw-dropping in either esthetic. Kristen Stewart understood the assignment with her wet and wavy “fresh out the shower” look pushed to the side- it’s sleek, it’s fitting, it’s everything.
