Blowing West - tales from the pit Canada

When the Vancouver-born Blo first opened in Toronto, we were eager to check it out, and now that it's infiltrated our fair city, I figured, why not get the grand tour and check out their latest salons on Bloor West, and the soon-to-be-open King West location?

Like all their salons, the décor is chic and pink (working within the sweetspot.ca pink walls, I fit in just fine). The stylists were exceptionally friendly and helped me pick a look from their Style Book, which offers seven looks, from pin-straight tresses, to a curly updo. Tempted by the Executive Sweet, and the Sex, Hugs, and Rock & Roll, I ended up choosing the Holly Would, a curly blowout with lots of volume, that, according to Blo's website, causes boys to "experience less co-ordination and muscle strength in the knees."

I was in and out in under 30 minutes (ideal if you need a quick pick-me up after work, before going out), and even learned a new technique for recreating my look at home from my stylist. Though, at only $31 for a blowout, I think I'll leave this job to the professionals. I will, however, invest in a couple of products from the Blo line. I loved the Peace Keeper, which detangled my mane, and the Over Achiever, which gave my usual limp locks some much-needed volume.

I couldn't have been happier with the result, and while men didn't actually drop to their knees at the site of my sexy new 'do, I was blown away, and will happily head west again for future visits.
